Tasting notes

Pale, delicate, slightly off-dry Lillies rose’. This is made from hand-harvested Cabernet Franc especially grown in the Bridge Pa sub-region of Hawkes Bay to make rose.

The grapes were whole bunch pressed to attain a subtle light pink colour with delicate aromas and flavors of blueberry with a restrained alcohol of 11.5% v/v. Crisp acidity is balanced by a tiny amount of retained sugar.

Named After

We have named the wine Lillies after the ship that our great-great-grandparents sailed in when coming from Cornwall to South Australia in 1861. Great, great grandfather Joseph Hancock was a Minister in the Methodist Church. He would no doubt have disapproved of his descendants’ choice of occupation!

Winemaker notes

As we harvested the grapes, pink lilies were flowering prolifically alongside the vineyard. As the weather warms up, Lillies Rose will be perfect as a glass of wine on its own or with vegetarian dishes and salmon, poultry and lighter red meats such as pork.
